PERMIT USE

Place the permit inside your vehicle hanging from the rearview mirror.  If your vehicle has no rearview mirror, place the permit on the windshield where it is visible from the outside. The permit must be in plain view from the outside of your vehicle at all times while at the ISDRA.  If it is not visible from the outside, law enforcement will issue a citation under Imperial County Codified Ordinance 10.32.010.

 TIP: Make sure your friends have a permit and know the rules.

 

A FEW SIMPLE RULES

  • Permit valid only for one primary vehicle*; cannot be shared

  • Permit must be displayed at all times while in dunes

  • Good at Imperial Sand Dunes only

  • Permits from other areas are not valid in dunes

  • Owners of vehicles not having a permit or those using a permit unlawfully, will be ticketed

    and face a fine under the

    Imperial County Codified Ordinance 10.32.010.

  • Always secure your vehicle and permit

 

*Primary vehicle is a registered street legal motorized vehicle that is driven into the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreational Area:  i.e. motor homes, trucks, SUVs, passenger cars.  A street legal vehicle that is towed or trailered to the dunes is exempt.  This vehicle must remain off all roadways and utilize OHV authorized areas and routes only.  If this vehicle is then utilized for travel on any of the non OHV authorized areas and routes; it will be considered as a primary vehicle and will require a permit.
